Harga Kamera DSLR Canon - Sejak kemunculannya di dunia kamera DSLR, tak terbantahkan Canon menjadi yang terdepan dalam teknologi sensor gambar CMOS. Hampir semua pendatang baru model EOS selalu ada peningkatan resolusi dan rentang iSO yang tinggi, dan saat EOS 7D direlease pada akhir tahun 2009, Canon telah berkembang dari 3 megapixel ke 18 megapixel, dan dari ISO 1600 ke ISO 12800, hanya dalam waktu sembilan tahun. Namun sejak saat itu kamera APS-C Canon telah memakai semua varian pada desain sensordasar yang sama.

Kemunculan Canon EOS 70D merupakan sesuatu yang sangat ditunggu-tunggu oleh peminat kamera SLR mid-range yang ingin mengupgrade kamera dari Canon EOS 60D ke kamera Canon Eos 70D. Kamera ini belajar dan mengadopsi banyak dari bit terbaik kamera SLR Canon sebelumnya, termasuk di antaranya sensor autofocus dari EOS 7D, layar sentuh pada kamera ini sepenuhnya diartikulasi dari EOS 700D (Rebel T5i), dan built-in Wi-Fi dari EOS 6D. Akan tetapi sebuah sensor yang diadopsi Canon EoS 70D benar-benar teknologi baru yang memiliki potensi tinggi dan revolusioner. Canon melalui kamera terbarunya ini masih memberikan resolusi setinggi 20.2 megapixel, namun dengan menggunakan desain "Dual Pixel CMOS AF" di mana setiap pixel tunggal dibagi menjadi dua photodioda yang terbaca terpisah, menghadap ke kiri dan ke kanan. Hal ini berarti bahwa pada prinsipnya keduanya mampu melakukan phase detection outofokus pada live view dan mode film.

Fase deteksi on-chip bukanlah merupakan teknologi baru, hal itu pertama kali diusung oleh Fujifilm dalam kamera F300EXR pada tahun 2010. Sejak itu teknologi ini diadopsi dalam desain yang berbeda oleh produsen kamera besar yang lain, namun bisa dikatakan pengapdosian itu paling sukses pada sistem Nikon 1 mirrorless model. Namun fase deteksi on-chip yang digunakan hingga saat ini memliki keterbatasan yang sering kali hanya mencakup area pada frame yang terbatas. Untuk itu Canon mengatakan bahwa Dual Pixel AF sistem mampu bekerja pada 80% wilayah dari lebar dan tinggi frame, dalam cahaya serendah 0 EV dan pada aperture F11. Dengan ini berarti bisa menjadi live view autofokus pertama yang belum ada pada kamera sejenis yang lain.

Jika dilihat dari desain dan tata letak kontrol pada EOS 7D maka bisa dikatakan bahwa ini merupakan evolusi yang logis dari OES 60D, di mana terdapat banyak perbaikan dan update oleh Canon. Kamera terbarunya ini menawarkan set lengkap pada kontrol eksternal yang berguna untuk mengoperasikan sebagian besar fungsi utama. Canon merancang Quick Control screen dengan sangat baik untuk mengcover hampir semua pengoperasian kamera. Untuk hal tersebut kamera ini juga mengadopsi touchscreen interface yang mengagumkan seperti pada EOS 650D (Rebel T4i), namun dalam kamera terbarunya ini terlihat lebih fungsional daripada sebelumnya.
